Football British Columbia is pleased to welcome the Prince George Minor Football Association (PGMFA) as its 32nd affiliated minor football club. The PGMFA will begin competing during the 2026 fall tackle season and becomes the eighth new club to join Football BC since the adoption of its club-centred membership structure. The PGMFA was established through Football BC’s collaboration with local stakeholders in Prince George.
Football BC President Kevin Parks welcomed the PGMFA into membership and highlighted the continued growth of Football BC’s affiliated club network.
“Everyone at Football BC is delighted to welcome the PGMFA into our membership,” said Parks. “We continue to welcome new clubs from across the province, and the affiliation of a club in northern British Columbia’s largest community is pivotal to the success of minor football in that region.”
Football BC Executive Director Keith Ryan explained how minor football is structured throughout the province.
“Our bylaws provide for one affiliated minor football club to serve each community. Accordingly, the PGMFA will be Football BC’s sole affiliated minor football program in the City of Prince George”. He further noted “the affiliation of PGMFA in addition to Vanderhoof Minor Football provides an important foundation for the establishment of a Northern Football Conference.”
Speaking on behalf of Football BC’s minor football membership, U19 Chair Jason Gillis also welcomed the PGMFA’s affiliation
“PGMFA will be a great addition to British Columbia’s minor football community,” said Gillis. “The registration of the Northern Football Conference as a society and the development of their operating rules and regulations is the next step in the process. Once complete, the Northern Football Conference will be established as the regional representative for minor football in northern British Columbia. We can then begin discussions on how and when affiliated minor football teams from the north can participate future provincial championships.
PGMFA President Bryan Bucci commented on the opportunities created by the club’s affiliation with Football BC.
“Our affiliation with Football BC provides the opportunity for our players to compete in sanctioned tournaments and competitions both here in the north and across BC” said Bucci. “We look forward to working with Football BC, Vanderhoof Minor Football to build a strong and sustainable minor football league across northern British Columbia.”
