Football British Columbia Launches Groundbreaking Initiatives to Build the Future of Female Football in British Columbia
Vancouver, BC January 10, 2025— Football British Columbia (BC) is thrilled to announce a series of Girls Skills Camps aimed at promoting participation in flag and tackle football for young female athletes across the province. These initiatives are a unique opportunity for girls to learn, develop, and showcase their skills in a supportive and empowering environment.
In an exciting first for British Columbia, these camps will also serve as the selection process for the inaugural BC U18 Girls Tackle Football Team, which will represent the province at the Football Canada U18 National Tournament.
Football British Columbia is building a Pathway for Girls in Football with a mission to grow the sport and create opportunities for female athletes. The upcoming Girls Skills Camps will provide players aged 13–17 with professional coaching in flag and tackle football. Athletes will develop skills in areas such as passing, catching, blocking, and tackling while also learning about teamwork, leadership, and the strategies of the game. To support our younger athletes, a U15 showcase is being launched on the Island and Lower Mainland.
These opportunities are open to girls of all skill levels, from beginners eager to learn the sport, to experienced players looking to take their game to the next level. “This is a monumental step forward for girls’ football in British Columbia,” said Football British Columbia's President Kevin Parks. “We’re not just teaching football skills; we’re creating opportunities and building a community where girls can thrive in the sport they love.”
